Eligibility Criteria
Regular admission requires an Alberta high school diploma or equivalent and minimum age of 18. Mature status admission is available to those at least 19 years old and out of school for one year. Those with related work experience may be given preference. Candidates must submit official high school and, if applicable, post-secondary transcripts, a written career profile, and two letters of reference. Candidates must be eligible for ENGL 111 by successfully completing English 30 with a final mark of 65 per cent or better. Students who do not meet this requirement will be required to write the Skills Appraisal test and complete any developmental courses resulting from the Skills Appraisal with a minimum grade of C before the program begins.
We are looking for individuals who are personally accountable and who can clearly express why they want to become teacher assistants, who have effective communication skills, and a commitment to working with children. Personal values, flexibility, and interest in personal growth are also important.
